

NEW DIRECTOR STARTS AT RRRDC

BYRON P. SIEBER
Byron P. Sieber is the Director of the Red River Regional Dispatch Center (RRRDC) located in the heart of the Fargo-Moorhead metropolitan area. This consolidated Center has been recognized as the first of its kind as it serves public safety agencies in two seperate states. The Center, which began in 2002, employs thirty-five full time employees and serves fifty-six public safety agencies in North Dakota and Minnesota.
Previous to working at the RRRDC, Byron Sieber spent over thirty-one years with the Grand Forks Police Department in Grand Forks, North Dakota where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant.
During his time with the Grand Forks Police Department he held various positions and served as a Commander in the Office of Professional Standards, the Uniform Patrol Bureau, the Planning and Research Bureau, the Community Policing Bureau, and the Technical Services Bureau. Prior to rising to the rank of Lieutenant he served as the Sgt. in the Uniform Patrol Bureau, Support Services Section and supervised within the City/County consolidated Dispatch Center.
In addition to his regular Law Enforcement duties, Lt. Sieber has extended his working knowledge into the area of Emergency Management. He is recognized as a "Certified Emergency Management Professional" by the State of North Dakota Emergency Management Association and has completed the "Professional Development Series" through the Federal Emergency Management Agency. He also has worked as a contract instructor at the Emergency Management Institute (EMI) in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
Lt. Sieber served as the lead Public Information Officer (PIO) for the City of Grand Forks during the 1997 flood, which at the time was described as one of the nation's largest disasters "per capita" in U.S. history.
Lt. Sieber holds a B.A. from the University of Noth Dakota in Political Science and graduated form the 195th Session of the FBI National Academy in 1998.
